Your needs

Translation is not simply a matter of converting a word into another. It doesn’t come from dictionaries. And, while a quality translation can – and should – be taken for granted, a bad one can potentially ruin your project.

A superficial knowledge of numerous fields rarely produces accurate translations. You need a translator who specialises in the subject matter of your document and truly understands it, terminologically and contextually.

Understanding the source language is not enough. You need a translator with solid writing skills in the target language, so that your translation doesn't read like one.

Are you targeting a specific audience? Will your document be published? You need a translator who adapts to your specific needs and to the purpose of your document, and who follows your terminological and stylistic preferences.

Translation should never be passive – a translator should actively research your document to determine its purpose, context and tone in order to correctly convey its meaning to the target reader.
